Key Responsibilities:
- Event Operations Management:
- Overseeing daily venue operations before, during, and after events.
- Supervising staff, including bars, cleaning, and security teams.
- Addressing operational issues in a timely manner and ensuring all work orders are completed.
- Team Leadership and Training:
- Training and mentoring Front of House (FOH) staff in best practices.
- Ensuring staff complies with company policies and standards.
- Motivating staff and fostering a positive work environment.
- Conducting new hire training on service standards, policies, and Ministry of Labour legislations (e.g., Bill 168, AODA).
- Event Coordination:
- Ensuring event spaces meet cleanliness and setup standards.
- Holding pre-shift meetings to discuss staffing, special requests, and event needs.
- Monitoring the execution of events and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Ensuring food stations and functions run on time.
- Administrative and Logistical Tasks:
- Handling staff scheduling, training, and hiring for large events.
- Keeping accurate records of event details, including BEOs (Banquet Event Orders), floor plans, dietary restrictions, and staff attendance.
- Assisting with inventories and ordering of dry goods and staff uniforms.
- Communicating with all departments via email or phone call; coordinating with bar managers for event closures, and handling labor reports.
- Leadership and Meetings:
- Holding weekly one-on-one meetings with Senior Operations Manager/GM for operational updates.
- Participating in weekly operational meetings to discuss feedback and operational issues.
- Ensuring all event details are reported to executives and following up with feedback.
- Health and Safety:
- Promoting a safe working environment and ensuring all health, safety, and food safety standards are adhered to.
- Operational Flexibility:
- Working a minimum of 44 hours a week with a flexible schedule (evenings and weekends as required).
- Opening and closing operations based on event timing, ensuring smooth transitions before and after events.
Qualifications and Expectations:
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with event operations, team training, and managing client expectations.
- Ability to foster a positive work environment and lead by example.
- Proficiency in administration, including email communication, inventory management, and labor reporting. Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio programs are an asset.
